Question:

My husband passed away we had all assets and bank accounts joint. Everything was passed to me, no probate. He had 3 credit cards in his name only, I never co-signed. I would like to know if I am responsible for these debts now? What course of action do the credit card companies have against me?

Answer:

You may need to speak to an estate lawyer with respect to this matter. My instinct is that creditors have a claim against his estate but then what constitutes his estate - did he have a will, is there an executor? I think it's a legal question and that's where you should direct it.
